Katsina Assembly move to create Private, Community Schools Board

A bill seeking to re-consider the possibility of creating the Katsina state Private and Community Schools Board (2018) has passed second reading on the floor of the state House of Assembly last week, Katsina Post learned.

The bill, which was presented on the floor by the House Leader, Abubakar Suleiman Abukur and member representing Rimi Local Government also got support from many of his colleagues.

The House which was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tasi’u Musa Mai Gari, later on, refers the bill to the House Committee on Education and mandated them to submit their report in two weeks.

The bill, if passed into law will regulate and ensure compliance of private and community schools in the state to the already established standards and make them conform with the tradition and cultures of people of the state.

In a related development, the House has also confirmed Sulaiman Muhammad as the Auditor General for local government as requested by Governor Aminu Bello Masari in an executive letter dated 23/09/2019.

Sulaiman was the immediate Executive Secretary of the Local Government Pension Board.

Prior to his confirmation, the Chairman, House Committee on public accounts, Sani Lawal Baure, presented to the house the audited 2017 reports for the account of the 34 Local government councils in the state.
