The operators of commercial tricycles popularly called ‘Yan ‘kur’kura in Katsina had on Saturday staged a protest calling for the removal of their Union Chairman, Jamilu Muhammad for his alleged high-handedness.

The placard-carrying protesters, who marched to the streets Katsina, protested close to the palace of the  Emir of Katsina, Dr. Kabir Usman, according to The Punch reporter.

The tricycles operators also complained about the exorbitant high cost of their license and registration.

One of the protesters, Jamilu Tanko, alleged that the union chairman was high-handed.

He said,” Our members are fed up with Jamilu Muhammed. He does not take care of us again. Recently, we complained that the N3,000  we are paying for the licence was too much and he did not do anything. We also told him about the N2,100 we are paying for registration but he didn’t show concern. We don’t want him again.”

Another protester, Bishir Amad,  claimed the said chairman had not been carrying members along.

Nobody was at the state secretariat of the union while Muhammed could not be reached for comment.

Spokesman for the police in the state, SP Gambo Isah, could also not be reached for comment.
