Lado VS Masari: Katsina PDP says it will appeal tribunal judgment
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State says it will appeal today’s tribunal judgment which upheld the election of Katsina State Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari and dismissed their petition challenging his victory in the 2019 polls.
The position of the party was made known to Katsina Post by the state Chairman of the party in an interview.
“We’re happy with the court judgment especially that we came as petitioners on ground zero but fortunately ended up with a judgment by the chairperson of the tribunal in our favor.
“We commended the courage of the judge for standing up for the truth even on the face of intimidation and we will appeal the judgment by the two other judges not on our favor.
“We will reclaim our mandate”, he added.
Recall that the tribunal, which delivered its judgment in Abuja, dismissed all the grounds of the petition, saying that the petitioner did not prove them beyond reasonable doubt as required by law.
However, there was a minority judgment during the proceedings as the Chairperson of the three-man panel, Justice Hadiza Ali Jos, told other members of the tribual that Governor Masari “does not have the requisite qualification to contest the election”.
Also after the judgement, Governor Masari took to his Twitter handle and thank Almighty Allah for the victory and dedicate it “to the good people of Katsina”.
