Anxiety heightened as Masari set to send list of Commissioners, SAs to assembly
… The list will be send after the tribunal ruling – sources
As Katsina State anticipate Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s nominees for the positions of commissioners and Special advisers to help him shepherd his second and final term, there is anxiety and uncertainty amid endless closed-door meetings by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as to who will make the list.
Katsina Post learned that only the Governor and his closest allies are in the picture of who and who would make it to the final list.
However, the battle to make the Next Level cabinet has been made particularly competitive, because of many factors among which is the fact that the members of the APC now is larger than that in 2015 due to the defections that happened in between.
Also, there are many APC stalwarts and party faithful that the Governor needs to compensate for their roles in his victory while many others who lost re-election ticket of the party but chose to stay to other candidates during the party’s primaries.
Katsina Post source who is familiar with the processes and who also pleaded for anonymity told this reporter that all is set now for the Governor to send the list to the House of Assembly.
“You know the state Assembly members had been on a long recess and when they resumed, the security issue in the state occupied the attention of the Governor.
“But now that things seems to have been normalized, I believe the Governor will send the list in the coming few days”, he said.
Another factor taking the attention of the Governor and by large delaying the formation of his cabinet according to some pundits is the fact that PDP and its State Governorship candidate, Senator Yakubu Lado for the 2019 election is challenging his victory at the tribunal.
The pundits are saying that most likely, the Governor is waiting for the outcome of the tribunal ruling on his election before forming his cabinet.
