Dev’t: It is unfortunate Funtua zone is yet to benefit from center – Funtua consultative forum
The Funtua Consultative Forum has voiced out their grievances as to how their zone – Katsina south also called Karaduwa zone is yet to benefit from the federal government at the center in terms of developmental projects.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Forum recently and seen by Katsina Post.
The statement reads in part: “Funtua Consultative Forum is deeply saddened with the current insecurity situation in Katsina State. The Forum commiserates with the government and good people of the state and at the same time condoles with the victims of banditry particularly in Sabuwa, Dandume, Faskari, Kankara, Safana, Danmusa, Jibia and Batsari local government areas.
“The recent peace effort embarked upon by the Katsina State government to bring an end to incessant banditry in nooks and crannies of the State is commendable.
“The Forum also noted the special prayer organized by Muslim Umma in Katsina for divine intervention and wishes to call for attitudinal change as part of conditions set by Allah (SWT) to accept our prayers.
“We however call on the northern governors to wake up and take decisive action over the spate of killings, kidnappings and other social vices in the region. In the same vein, members of the public should assist security agencies with useful information and report any suspicious person or group to the authority.
“But, this effort should be complemented with the creation of job opportunities by both public and private sectors for our teeming citizens with bulk of them youths. This, we believe will substantially reduce the spate of insecurity in the state.
“Meanwhile, the Forum wishes to congratulate the people of Daura Senatorial District for getting two new federal institutions (Federal Polytechnic, Daura and Federal Fire Training Institute, Kankia) courtesy of untiring struggle by Late Senator Bukar of blessed memory and the present Senator of the Zone, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita.
“Such kind of zealousness, doggedness and focus are what defined representation and that is what we hope our representatives in Funtua Senatorial Zone will emulate for the speedy development of the zone.
“It is sad and unfortunate that the zone is yet to benefit from any tangible project from the centre just like how other zones are benefitting.
“The Forum calls on our representatives at state and federal levels to unite themselves and bring such giant projects to their constituencies. They should be reminded that the people of the Zone are keenly watching the happenings in the state and call on them to act.
“They should as a matter of urgency address the too glaring deficits of tertiary institutions and other social amenities bedeviling the zone.”
