Katsina NBA condemns Wurma attack, roll out plan for gov’t to defeat bandits
NBA Katsina Condemns attack and mass Kidnappings in Wurma, Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State, even as they rolled out plans for how government can defeat bandits and end banditry in the State and country at large.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the NBA, Katsina State Branch, M. A. Kofar Bai on Thursday and made available to Katsina Post.
According to the statement, “We are saddened by the attacks by Kidnappers and Armed Bandits terrorising a number of local Governments in Katsina State and their villages.
“The most recent one being the attack on Wurma, Kurfi local Government area of Katsina State wherein over 50 indigenous members of Wurma including women and children were terrorized and kidnapped.
“We hereby register our heartfelt sympathy to the families of the kidnapped, the Government of Katsina State and Nigeria on the gruesome acts of terrorism.
“We hereby call on the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Government of Katsina State in particular to note that it requires much more than amendments to the penal code Law of the State and an Amnesty to Kidnappers and Arm Bandits living across the forests to address the menace of Kidnappings and Arm Banditry in the state.
“We call on the Government, Security Agencies and Stakeholders in the State to ensure that all hands are on deck towards putting an end to the menace.
“The menace requires the coming together of Federal, State and Local Governments along side all other stakeholders for a comprehensive approach that will take into account the root causes of Arm Banditry and Kidnappings including its historical, economic, social, ideological and political dimensions if any.
“We strongly stress the need for a joint and inclusive plan of action to combat this threat.”
