The Katsina government has gotten a whooping sum of $3m grant from the world bank to end the incidence of out-of-school children or to have it drastically reduced, Katsina Post learned.
$3m is equavalent to over N300m base on the current exchange rate.

To this end, the Katsina State government has set up a 22-member steering committee that will spearhead the project and address the issue.

Katsina currently has 10,135 out-of-school children according to new statistics according to The Punch.

The program will be executed under a project tagged ‘Better Education Service Delivery for all.’

It was learned that members of the committee were to embark on a five-year developmental program that would address the issue of out-of-school children in the state.

It was further learned that the project would also see to the provision of infrastructure, including mobile classrooms, regular assessment of pupils and teachers, among others.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Halimat Usman, who commented on the project during the inauguration of the committee, said “Katsina is one of the 17 states with a large number of out-of-school children. We are in dire need of assistance in our education sector and this is an opportunity we all must utilize very well.”
