Reasons for Masari’s delay in appointing Commissioners, Special Advisers

It has been three months since the inauguration of the Katsina State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari for his second term and barely five months since his election in March but he is yet to fully constitute the State Executive Council.

The state executive council (SEC) comprises of the Governor, his Deputy, Secretary to the Government of the State, the commissioners and Special Advisers among others.

While the Governor had re-appointed the Secretary to the Government of the state and only one Commissioner in persons of Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa and Barrister Ahmad El-marzuq, no any other person was appointed.

Katsina Post checks revealed that many reasons were said to have caused the delay but the list is almost ready and will be send to the State House of Assembly soonest.

“You know the Governor is naturally very soft hearted and many people around him are making it very difficult for him to make his choices in regards to the appointments.

“The Governor himself want to appoint competent people regardless of their political contributions to his reelection just like in the 2015 but he is being discouraged by them”, says a top political figure who craved for anonymity.

Another reason according our sources is the fact that the APC structure in the state has expanded as the result of massive defection of politicians into its fold and as such many interest groups where competing for the political positions.

One more reason as to why the appointments are delayed is because of the long recess of the State assembly members which they will reconvene in September.
