From January 2019 to date, Katsina State has lost no fewer than two hundred and sixteen (216) people and 33,130 displaced according to a new report published by Daily Trust on Saturday on 25 August.

The report stated that in the period under review, a total of fourty villages in eight local government areas have been affected by the activities of banditry and kidnapping.

The report identified the mostly affected local government areas to include Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Dan Musa, Kankara, Fasakri, Dandume and Sabuwa.

A breakdown of the number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) showed that three thousand, three hundred and Seventy Six are males, eight thousand, eight hundred and eighty six are females while a total of twenty thousand, eight hundred and sixty eight are children.

According to the statistics, thirty one people were wounded from January to date.

The activities of bandits and kidnappers have risen lately, resulting to the influx of vulnerable persons residing in villages into towns and the state capital.

The breakdown shows that Katsina local government hosts 1,415 IDPs, Jibia has 477, Batsari hosts 18,418 while Safana has 1,550.

Dan Musa has ,4,827 IDPs, Kankara 1,443, Faskari 4,875 and 135 for Danja local government area.
