Diamonds, gold found in 11 Local Governments of Katsina State
The Department of Resource Development in Nigeria’s Katsina State recently found diamond and gold deposits in no fewer than eleven Local Governments area.
This is according to a Russian multi-national Information and analytics on diamond and jewelry markets online journal called Rough&Polished (https://www.rough-polished.com)
According to the journal, in 2011 the then Governor of Katsina State, Barr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema made the revelation.
Afriquejet quoted the state’s governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema as saying that iron ore deposits had also been discovered in the area.
He said diamonds were discovered after exploration in Kafur, while gold was found in Jibiya, Safana, Faskari, Kankara, Danmusa, Sabuwa, Bakori, Dutsinma, Batsari and Malumfashi local government areas of the state.
The Nigerian government had already invited interested investors to partner with the Katsina State to exploit diamonds, gold, and iron ore.
“The government is pushing for a private, public partnership to exploit the full potentials of these minerals in the state,” Shema said.
Nigeria was mainly known for being the leading crude oil producer in Africa.
