Notorious armed robber arrested at General Hospital, Katsina
One Haruna Maiyara, of 35 years of age, who is a suspected to be notorious armed robber was admitted for treatment as a result of some gunshot wounds he sustained during his failed operation at the Katsina General Hospital after he was arrested, Punch reports.
Maiyara of the Budawa Quarter, Marina village in the Safana Local Government Area of the state, was arrested while being treated for wounds he allegedly sustained during a robbery operation.
Northern City News gathered that police detective received information about Maiyara from vigilant residents and consequently swooped in on him.
Police operatives revealed that Maiyara and other members of his gang, who are still at large, allegedly attacked and killed three farmers in their farmland at Kirkawa village in the Safana Local Government Area on June 8, 2019.
The names of the deceased farmers were given as Jabiru Mansir, Ashiru Mansir, and Mudaha Mansir.
Maiyara has since been charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and belonging to a gang of thieves.
The offenses violate sections 97, 221 and 306 of the Penal Code Law of Nigeria.
The suspect is due to appear before the Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court presided over by Hajiya Fadile Dikko on August 15, 2019.
Court records show that the magistrate ordered that the suspect be remanded in prison custody until then.
