Katsina State Government expressed commitment to partner with Federal Ministry of Industries trade and Investment to convert Funtua Textile Mill into Integrated Textile and Garment Park (ITGP).

According to a statement sign by the senior special assistant to the Deputy Governor on press affairs Ibrahim Musa said this was disclosed at a meeting between Katsina State Deputy Governor Alhaji Mannir yakubu and officials of the ministry of trade and investment.

According to him, the Deputy Governor Mannir yakubu said Katsina is the largest producer of cotton in the country.

He further said already Central Bank of Nigeria is in the State for improvement of cotton production.

On the projects, he said the state government has provided land for the take-up of the project and committed to provide more land if required.

Alhaji Mannir yakubu pointed out that present administration in the State is committed to wooing investors in the state.

The Deputy Governor express appreciation to the ministry of industries trade and investment for choosing Katsina State for the project.

Speaking at the meeting the permanent secretary of the ministry of industry trade and investment Edet Sunday Akpan expressed readiness said the ministry is committed to realise the project.

He thanked Katsina State Govt for it’s effort to realise the project to boost federal Government investment drive.

Mr Edet Sunday Akpan thanked katsina State Govt for the provision of land for the take-up of the project.

Earlier a paper was presented on the objectives and concept of the project.
