The Secretary to the Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa has opined that he was the first person to have recommended Katsina Ex-Governor Shema to Late Ummaru ‘Yar’adua for the position of Governor in 2007.

Mustapha Inuwa made this assertion during a live and phone-in program aired on Vision Radio FM in Katsina during the weekends.

Mustapha who was responding a to question by the anchor of the interview on what is the origin of the misunderstanding between him and Katsina Ex-Governor Shema, took down a memory line to narrate what he said happened in the build-up to the 2007 general elections.

According to him, when the 2007 politics heated up, Katsina Ex-Governor Shema was not even among the contenders for the position of Governor, in fact, his political associates were rooting for Tanimu Kurfi.

“That time, there are eight of us that Late ‘Yar’adua do consult on political issues like that and he asked us for advice regarding who he should back for 2007.

“I was the only one who proposed him Shema as the right candidate from the Katsina Central Senatorial zone.” He said.

He further went ahead to list the names of the people present when he made the proposal to include: Kabir Daudawa, Shehu Inuwa Imam, Ali Hussaini, and one other.
