Katsina gov’t to develop 800 hectors economic zone to buster state’s economy

The Katsina State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari has given hint into his administration commitment to developing an economic zone consisting of over 800 hectors to burst the state’s economic activities.

The Governor made this known while speaking to the state House correspondent, Adamu Sambo in Niamey when he accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to the Niger Republic for the 12th Extra-Ordinary Summit of the African Union.

According to him, “….opportunities are here and with the level of entrepreneurship in Nigeria, I believe we are going to take advantage of that.

“Already we are developing an economic zone consisting of over 800 hectors and this year we are going to start on 100 hectors along Jibia border coming into Niger [Republic] and other West African countries.

For us, we are going to take advantage of whatever is there that Nigeria and Katsina, in particular, will share out of the fallout of the agreement.” He concluded.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday signed the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.

He gave the endorsement in Niamey, Niger Republic, making Nigeria the 53rd state on the continent to append its signature to the document.

Buhari signed the agreement around 10.48 am local time, as the first event at the opening of the 12th Extra-Ordinary Summit of the African Union on the launch of the Operational Phase of the AfCFTA.
