Katsina Business Mogul Dahiru Mangal Donates N35m To Victims Of Banditry

The Katsina State Government, through its State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), on Monday rushed truckloads of relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs), who were victims of banditry attacks.

About 11 persons were killed when bandits struck at about 6.25pm on Saturday in some villages located in Kankara Local Government Area.

It sparked off protests by aggrieved villagers, who carried some of the bodies and barricade major highways in the town.

SEMA Executive Secretary Alhaji Babangida Nasamu told The Nation in an interview in his office that the IDPs were camped at Model Primary School, Kankara, where they are receiving medical and other attentions.

The SEMA boss added that already the state government has released about N3.5 million in addition with other donations, such as, N35 million received from business mogul Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Dangote Foundations and several Katsina indigenes

He said: “Governor Masari’s prompt response to emergency situations in Katsina State remains unparalleled. For instance, he has already ordered us to take inventory of the IDPs in Kankara to ascertain both their population and the extent of their needs. For a start, he ordered the release of N3.5 million pending further requests.”

He said presently, most of the IDPs from other local government areas outside Kankara have returned to their homes to farm and some were accommodated by their relations.
