Just In: Nigerian Army starts 24-hours patrol in 7 frontline LGAs in Katsina State

By MB Mafara

As part of efforts to combat security challenges in the state, the Nigerian Army said its officers would soon start a twenty four hours patrol in the affected local government areas of the state.

The frontline local government areas facing security challenges in the state are Batsari, Safana, Dan Musa, Kankara, Faskari, Dandume and Sabuwa.

The General Officer Commanding, Division 8 of the Nigerian Army, Major General Abdulhakeem Olalapo dropped the hint when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Aminu Bello Masari at the government House on Friday.

Olalapo noted that the effort would give chance to farmers in the affected areas to go to their farms without hitches.

Major Olalapo said he was in the state to critically asses the readiness of his troops in the fight against banditry and kidnapping in the state.

He commended the state government for the support it has been rendering to the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in the state since it’s formation.

In his remarks, governor Aminu Bello Masari commended men and officers of the Nigerian Army over the improvements recorded in the fight against insecurity in the state.

Governor Masari observed that significant improvements have been recorded especially after he made an appeal to the president following incessant attacks on villagers by bandits.

While calling on security agents to redouble their efforts in the fight against banditry and kidnapping, Gov. Masari assured that the state government would continue to support them to discharge their duties accordingly.
