Katsina: 3 died, 1 rescued unconsciously from well trying to rescue goat in Katsina community
No fewer than three persons were pronounced dead by being drowned in a well while a fourth person narrowly escaped death in an attempt to rescue a goat in Unguwar Agaji, Yari bori community of Katsina State on Thursday.
Our sources gathered that the four people reportedly entered the well, which is the only source of water in the community, one-by-one but only the last person was rescued unconsciously at the end of their ill-fated mission.
The Dangaladiman Katsina and District Head of Kafur, Alhaji Abdulrahman Rabe, confirmed the tragedy to newsmen at Kafur shortly after attending the funeral prayer of the deceased persons.
He said the incident occurred when the first victim, simply identified as Abdullahi, entered the well to save a drowning goat, the second climbed into the well to rescue his friend and the goat, while the third person entered to save the first two.
According to the monarch, the men of the Katsina State Fire Service in Kafur were invited to save the situation when the fourth victim fell unconscious in an attempt to get out of the well.
It was furthered that gathered that the state fire service evacuated the remains of the three victims and the lone survivor from the well.
