Intervene in our return allowances – Katsina students in Sudan send a passionate appeal to Masari

The Katsina State sponsored students in Sudan under the aegis of Katsina State sponsored students’ Union in Sudan has requested the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari to intervene on the non-payment of their return allowances of some of their members.

This was contained in a letter addressed to the Governor signed by the President of the union and seen by Katsina Post dated 20th May 2019.

In the letter, the students appealed to the Governor being their last resort after exhausting all other possible ways to intervene on the non-payment of their return allowances to the tune of $1,000 per student for no fewer than 86 students out of whom 37 will be graduating soon.

“It would interest Your Excellency to note that, the Katsina State Government has since deposited the said allowances at the Nigerian Embassy in Khartoum. However, they are claiming we have no more allowances with them.

“It would also interest you to note that previous sets of students on Katsina State Government foreign scholarship program, had their complete allowances including the Return allowances duly paid.” the letter said.

The students also said they made several efforts for their plight to see the light of the day through the Katsina State Scholarship Trust Fund and ministry of education but all to no avail.
