The Aliko Dangote Foundation has renewed its commitment to entrepreneurship development in the country with N340 million Micro-Grant Empowerment Programme for beneficiaries in Katsina State.

The program aims at empowering 1000 beneficiaries from each of the 34 local government areas of the state to establish businesses and be self-employed.

While inaugurating the committee that will select the beneficiaries, the deputy governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, hailed the initiative as a welcome development, adding that the majority of the target beneficiaries are women.

Yakubu revealed that the foundation recently donated 340,000  packages of food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state and charged the committee to select the beneficiaries of the micro-grant empowerment program to ensure only appropriate persons would benefit from the gesture.

In her remarks, the chairperson of the committee and permanent secretary in the state ministry of lands and survey, Hajia Rawantu  Lawal, promised to conduct the assignment diligently to justify the confidence reposed on the committee.
