For The Last Time, Let’s Have Hope In Buhari: A Prelude – By Bello Adamu

It may interest the Reader to know that if we are to go by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s command (promises)…..his government has and still have agenda as was campaigned upon in 2015 and 2019.

One may ask, what is the crux, focus, agenda of the government? Is it fighting Corruption, Is it economic recovery/growth and development, Is it restoring Security?

Consequent upon the above and in view of the happenings in the last four years, we may say the government has what it intended to achieve before 2019 that we are in today.
Undoubtedly, the government even before its commencement, told us those three things it want to achieve, so the government in itself have bearing though with hitches which are trying to turn down the achieved.(for liberal minds like me).

Taking the gamut of the promises; on fighting corruption, it partially worked especially within the sphere of operation of the public service. It is believed by a number of people that the war against corruption is selective and a failed mission already.

Those people used the case of Sambo Dasuki, Babachir David Lawal and recent waiver of the Danjuma Goje’s case by EFCC for his stepping down to Ahmad Lawal.

On the Economy, a number of variables/factors are available, there is western indices to measuring Economic Development;- the GDP, Foreign reserve, Forex, per capital income etc and there are also real economic Measurements; real per capital income, visible investments in critical sectors – infrastructure, Education, Agriculture which provide food availability and create job which produce the real income amongst others. I leave this for the reader to judge.

In the area of security, a lot are for discussions; we have a partial success in war against Boko Haram as for four years they still exist to attack soft targets and failed in emerging new challenge(s) especially in the North West; armed banditry which was a product of cattle rustling and now graduating to kidnapping and terrorism.

The new security threat was not inherited at this alarming Capacity though little of its spate was notice around Birnin Gwari, Zamfara and very little part of Katsina to say the least.

So for me the Buhari administration has woefully failed in this regard. Now, with the above analytics and in view of the attribution of the failures by the Executive arm of government to Legislature (leadership of the National Assembly) and in view of establishing a Legislature that will be answerable to the will and wishes of the presidency, we expect the Best of government result in the next four years.

Let’s for the last time have hope
