Eid-fitr: Tailors decried low patronage from customers in Katsina

Tailors and other fabric dealers in Katsina metropolis have decried what they called ‘extream and unusual low patronage’ from customers as we count hours to this year’s eid-fitr celebration.

Some of the tailors who spoke with Katsina Post correspondent describe the situation as highly unusual as they are aware that the government has paid salaries of both state and local government staff.

“This Sallah we witness low patronage, those that usually sew multiple clothes previously have approached us with just one this time around.

“Not even that, you can see even today that is ordinarily a very busy day for us, we don’t have much to do.” Said Salim, a tailor in one of the metropolis popular shops in the ancient city.

Another tailor we interviewed simply identified as Abubakar in Sabon Layi told us that many of his customers have not come to collect their clothes with hours now to the eid day.

“As you can see around, the shop is full of sewed clothes but their owners are nowhere to be found with just hours to Sallah now.” He said angrily.

However, some of the state residents we interviewed told us that they have a lot to do that is why the sawing of new clothes take the back seat this time around.
