With 29 LGAs, 50 district heads; Katsina emir now controls largest Emirate in Nigeria
With a total number of 29 Local governments being manned by no fewer than 50 district heads across Katsina State, now Katsina Emir, HRH Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman now controls the largest emirate in Nigeria.
This is particularly so now following the disintegration of the hitherto largest Emirate of Kano into 5 by the Executive Governor of the State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Daura emirate being it a sister emirate to that of Katsina in the same state has only 5 Local governments out of the 34 in the state.
Now only Sokoto and Kaduna State (Zaria) has single emir and while the Sultan of Sokoto controls 23 Local Governments, Emir of Zazzau controls 11 LGAs.
Other states like Zamfara, Kebbi, Jigawa, Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, and others have many emirs.
In states like Zamfara for instance, there is a single LGA with two first class emirs.
