The Katsina State’s Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa has given assurance that the state government under the administration of Governor Aminu Bello Masari will implement the new minimum wage of N30,000 recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The SGS gave this assurance while being a guest in a Live Television program on TVC on Saturday afternoon.

Mustapha Inuwa said the Masari-led administration has been up to date with Salary of its workers and pensioners since inception.

He also listed some achievements of the government as far as civil servants are concern which includes upsetting the pension arrears to the tune of N11.1bn which they inherited from the previous administration.

Other achievements he cited were the promotion of teachers both in Primary and Secondary schools across the state up to December and many more.

Recall that the Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari on May 1st said he could not conclude that he would pay the N30,000 new minimum wage, Daily Trust reports.

Masari, represented by the Head of Service Idris Tune at the rally to mark Workers’ Day in Katsina, said his government would meet with the labor union on the issue.

“This is a process. We cannot conclude that we are going to pay N30,000 minimum wage. We are going to dialogue with the labor leaders and arrive at a conclusion that is the reality to the Katsina state government and the welfare of the workers.

“We have never wavered in catering for the welfare of workers, so the issue of minimum wage cannot be an exception also,” he said.
