The Katsina State government has spent no less than N97m on the procurement of new water pumping machines for Ajiwa water treatment plant.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Salisu Gambo Dandume revealed this shortly after he inspected the machines that arrived from Germany at the Ajiwa water plant in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to the Commissioner, the Governor earlier approved the purchase of the machines to alleviate the peoples suffering due to water scarcity in and around the Katsina metropolis.
He also said that the engineers that will put the machines into use are on their way to the state from Ghana and promised that water supply will be improved in Katsina in three (3) weeks time.
It could be recalled that the state government has been under pressure from citizens in the Katsina metropolis for lack of adequate water for the last 2 months.
