Late Ummaru ‘Yar’adua made Katsina a state – Muttaqha rabe

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Katsina and close person to the Late President Ummaru Musa ‘Yar’adua, Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma is of the opinion that the Late Governor of Katsina State made it a ‘State’.

Muttaqha Rabe made this known while delivering a paper with the title ‘An Insider Viewpoint On Ummaru Musa ‘Yar’adua Administration In Katsina State (1999 – 2007)’ during an annual event to mark 9th-year remembrance of the death of the Late Governor organized by Coalition of PDP Support Groups.

According to Muttaqha, while Katsina state was curved from Kaduna in 1987 but it was Late Ummaru Musa’s administration that made it a state between 1999 to 2007.

Muttaqha went further and listed some agencies and other parastatals like the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Teachers Service Board, RUWASA among others that were created during the period to enhance service delivery and efficiency for the people of the state.

He also listed many more deliberate policies adopted by the then Katsina State Governor towards improving educational, empowerment and other subsectors in the state.

On the good days they shared, Muttaqha recalled how humble and simple Late Ummaru was. He also shared how on one faithful day the former Governor asked him to drive him to the House of one of his ally that was sick

On his part, the Chairman of the occasion and the PDP party chairman in the state also took a walk in history where he narrated how they have been together with the late President politically since the time of SDP/NRC political parties in the third republic.

Majigiri also spoke on how all the developmental projects and policies initiated by the Late President were completed by the successive government of Barr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema.

Hon. Majigiri also recounted how the Late former Governor visited a remote village in Mashi LGA when he was the then chairman that was hit by a fire inferno without even securities.

Shortly after the programme, members of the Coalition of PDP Support Groups held a closed-door post-election dialogue where they discussed on reasons for the party’s defeat in the last election and ways on how the anomalies would be rectified.

The Chairman of the Coalition, Comrade Hamza Yunusa Jibia who spoke with Katsina Post shortly after said a communique will be drafted and their observations and resolutions transmitted to the State Working Committee of the PDP.
