Katsina Ex-Gov Shema lectured 29 new, returning Governors on good Governance
Good Governance Central in A Democracy – Katsina Ex-Gov Shema
Former Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shehu Shema has urged the 29 new and returning governors in Nigeria to set up priorities in critical sectors such as economy, security, agriculture, education, health, employment generation and infrastructure while reiterating that good governance is central in a democracy where human rights and rule of law are respected.
This is contained in Press Release Signed by the media aide to the former Governor, Olawale Oluwabusola and made available to Katsina Post.
At the forum for induction of new and returning governors held at Banquet hall, State House, Abuja, organised by the Nigeria Governors Forum in partnership with International organisations, Shema advocated setting up of Rapid Development Committee at Local, State and National level “to help identify, map, and strategize on critical areas of need at each level for rapid development and growth in all sectors”.
It was a forum of great minds and apart from Shema, other members of the panel of discussants include, National Leader of APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Former Governor of Mexico, Bill Richardson, former Chief of Staff USA, Brian Condit, Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.
According to Shema, , “governing is a serious business; you must plan, strategize, organize, manage and set your priorities to give effective leadership since government exist for the happiness of the governed”.
As part of his remarks, former Governor of Mexico, Bill Richardson who refereed to Shema as his friend said he aligned himself with the position and ideas of the former Governor of Katsina on the need for the government to connect with the need of the governed.
