Water scarcity: Katsina government has 40 days before it buried it’s face in shame – By Hamza Yunusa Jibia

In the eve of 2015 election, Dallatun Katsina now the executive governor of Katsina State had busted that he will be “ashamed” if he is unable to provide portable water to Katsina metropolitan in a term of four years in office as governor (the audio is in circulation), he argued and specifically stressed that it was due to unseriousness and poor leadership from the previous administration that Katsina didn’t have sufficient drinking water despite having abundant water in Zobe and Jibia Dam.

Katsinawa should note that, where the scarcity of water lingered up to the expiration of governor Masari’s led APC government come May 29, 2019, it became our duty as citizens to remind his excellency to mention in his acceptance speech this pharase; “It is shameful I could not deliver water as promised to Katsina metropolitan, thus I seek for your forgiveness”. However, where he (governor) is unable to say such, we deem it right to categorically call and state it everywhere that “Masari yaji Kunya” as a way of demonstrating our displeasure on the confidence repose on him for good four years.

We thought water scarcity will be a thing of the past after having governor who is an expert in water system. To our greatest surprise, in the recent report made by DW-Hausa, the water board manager was being heard accepting the fact that there is scarcity and even promised to supply water tankers to ease the hardship – this i believe is another poor if not worse leadership we are experiencing under govenor Masari.

We all know in the beginning of this administration, the government has kept telling people no-money-no-money but now that the money has finally arrived, it didn’t say there is money, it rather choose to spend to buy opposition in millions at the detriment of Katsina masses. Towards the reelection bid of 2019, this administration had spent huge amount of tax payers’ money buying opposition to join APC (to get/bought vote and to bribed them from speaking what’s right so as to bury all it’s failure from the common man).

If there is seriousness in this government, the resources ought to have been channelled in providing water for the masses, that way, the government wouldn’t even mind to go out campaigning, neither did it need opposition to win election.

Now that a water jerrycan costs resident’s who struggle to get what to eat at 30-80 naira range depending on their proximity with boreholes, now that “Masu Kura” have filled up Katsina and are seen virtually everywhere much more like ‘keke napep’, on our roads, Gov. Masari still have 40 days to use rocket science and or “Dabo” as he fondly called it, to get this acute water scarcity solved. Where this 40 days elapsed without water in Katsina, we have no option than to say in strong terms “Masari yaji Kunya”.

Personally, on may 29 when many are celebrating the governor for his renewed tenure, I will make this caption boldly on my social media platform to sent out my frustration.
