The Government of Katsina State said that new laws are underway that will force borehole owners and operators in the state to start paying taxes as part of measures aimed at generating revenue for the state and also to address indiscriminate drilling of boreholes by several private houses in the state without following due processes.

The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Salisu Gambo Dandume, told The Nation on Saturday in an exclusive interview, that the situations where owners of private houses embark on drilling of boreholes even without observing the mandatory kilometer spacing have become worrisome

He further assured that the State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, RUWASSA, shall be strengthened to enforce laws the drilling and installation of boreholes in the state.

In a related development, the Public Relations of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) Muntari Ibrahim popularly known as “Muntari Kwai” has been reportedly kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja expressway, Daily Trust reports.

His son, Ibrahim Muntari who confirmed the development said the incidence happened on Tuesday afternoon when he along with his brother Tasi’u Isah were returning to Abuja.

According to him, the kidnappers came with two cars with the first blocking the front that forced his official car, a Peugeot 408 to stop while the car behind closed upon them.
