Katsina 10MW wind farm to be ready in October, 2019 – FG


The federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari said the due of 10 MW Kastina Wind Farm and the Kaduna 215 MW Greenfield plants are expected to be commissioned before year end.

The projects which are revisited by the government through the Ministry of Power, Works, and Housing now at an advanced stage of completion will provide additional 225MW to the national grid.

A combined monitoring team from the Special Duties Department Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Ministry of Power, Works and Housing who visited the project site last week were assured that the plants would be completed at the least by the last quarter of 2019.

The contractors handling the projects who gave the assurance also commended the government for releasing funds as well as providing the conducive environment for them to work.

Addressing the visitors at Kastina Wind Farm, the project engineer, Engr. Emmanuel Yakubu, who spoke on before of the contracting firm, Crown Resources and Development Company Limited (CREDCO) said the work is 92 percent complete. He stated the plant will be fully ready by the end of October this year.

According to him, out of the 33 wind turbines installed in the farm, 15 has been commissioned and already generating power, while they are working on the commissioning of the remaining 22 turbines.

“The project is presently 92 percent completed,” he said

Expatiating, he said, “We have 37 wind turbines installed on site, 15 of them have been commissioned and we are currently carrying out operation and maintenance on those 15 wind turbines. We are working on the commissioning phase for the remaining 22 wind turbines.

Similarly, at the Kaduna Greenfield Plant, the site manager of the construction firm, Rockson Engineering Company Limited, Engr. Paul Adeyemo said the project is 85 percent complete.


  1. This is a welcome development, I passed there few days ago but didn’t know work was ongoing, may the good lord allow us see the commissioning of the project
