Residents within Katsina Metropolis are now groaning over persistent scarcity of potable water due to breakdown of services by the States water corporation.
Some of the areas affected by the scarcity include: Layout, GRA, Dandagoro, Rafindadi, Abatour, Kofar Sauri, Goruba Road among others.
Residents were seen roaming the street with their kegs to fetch water from any available source.
A resident of Layout which happens to be were both the Governor and his deputy lived said most residents in the area now rely on private borehole owners and wells for their daily water supply.
Another resident of Kofar Sauri said the area had been without water for over 3years months.
“The last time water flowed from our taps was about three years ago, since then i have been buying water from water vendors and i spend not less than N500 daily,” he said.
Likewise Malam Kasimu said he don’t have the money to buy water from vendors but sometimes he had to delay his children from going to school until they fetch water for their use.
A resident of Dandagoro said, we normally get water from the tap especially in the morning for three hours but now it has stopped and i now buy my water from commercial borehole owners.
