Katsina Assembly moves to reserve Speakership position to only returning members
The Katsina State House of Assembly has begun a move to amend some of the House rules with a proposal of some additional rules in the order book of the assembly.
Member representing Rimi Local Government Constituency, Hon. Abubakar Suleiman Abukur who proposed the amendments in motion said the aim of the amendment is to strengthen the House institution’s laid down rules.
Hon. Abukur listed some of the proposed amendments to include; giving priority to ranking (returning) members in the nomination for the position of Speaker, Deputy Speaker and other principal officers of the House.
The motion also includes the amendment of the spending limit of the House Speaker from N1 to N2m as well as attending only one mater of urgent important per day among others.
While responding, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tasi’u Musa Maigari referred the motion to House Rules and other Business matters for further legislative action.
