Katsina PDP divided over plan to challenge Masari’s victory in court

There appeared to be a mind division within the ranks of the Opposition’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State over the party’s leaders plan to challenge the victory of the ruling Party’s All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded Governorship election.

Some of the party chieftains that spoke to Katsina Post on condition of anonymity challenged the move by the party as according to them, it will just be an exercise in futility because according to them, the party truly lost the contest because they fielded an unpopular candidate.

“You see, I am totally against the idea of challenging the victory of Governor Aminu Bello Masari in the just concluded election because it will just be a waste of time, resources and an exercise in futility.” One of them told Katsina Post.

The other chieftain of the party, however, indicated that the party lost because Senator Yakubu Lado was fielded to challenge the incumbent despite many competent people that show interest and aspired for the party’s ticket.

“We told them that Senator Lado cannot defeat Masari in any free and fair contest but they thought we don’t know politics, I am happy that the people of Katsina taught them the greatest lesson in their lives.” He said.

Recall that midway into the collation of the Governorship result, the Katsina State PDP chairman and Deputy Gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri on behalf of the party rejected the outcome of the election and vowed to challenge it in court.
