2019 election: Katsina PDP alleges APC conniving with Police to harass members

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in conniving with the Police and other security operatives to intimidate and harass their members ahead of the general elections, Daily Trust reports.

However, the Police and the APC have denied the allegation describing it as false, unfounded and not true.

The state chairman of PDP, Salisu Majigiri, told newsmen that the Police on the orders of the state government have embarked on unnecessary invitation of its members without any genuine course but to harass and intimidate them.

According to him, the party has received such reports from Kankia, Sandamu and Daura local governments noting that “the security should be apolitical and provide services to all irrespective of their political differences.

Both INEC and Police , he said, should be neutral and be seen to be working for the general public not taking side noting that fairness, equity and transparency is what is expected of them.

In their reactions, the state commissioner of police, Sanusi Buba, said this is a speculation as far as he is concern because the PDP was not able to bring any tangible evidence on ground to collaborate this wild allegation noting that ” it is unfounded, wild and unreasonable”.

On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, said this is just cries of a foregone party saying that the PDP has lost its ground in Katsina giving the crossover of all its stakeholders to the APC.

He challenged the PDP to come forth with evidence to buttress these allegations because it is not true.
