Immigration arrests 2 human traffickers, rescued 9 victims in Katsina

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Katsina state command has arrested two suspected human traffickers and rescued nine suspected victims in the state.

The command comptroller, Mr. Joshua Ajisafe in a statement revealed that the arrest was achieved through an intelligence reports by the command provost.

According to him, the suspected traffikkers are Deborah Adewunmi, 29 years old, Moriliya Ibrahim, 29 years old noting that all the rescued victims are minor age ranging from nine months to eleven years old Indegines of Ogun state.

“They started their journey from Lagos to Kano, Kano-Katsina with the mission to travel to Libya without travel documents “ He said

Mr. Ajisafe further noted that the suspected traffickers intended to meet one Mustapha Ibrahim residing in Agadez to facilitate their journey to Libya.

“The claimed to have no money to feed themselves and the children, no transport money to move further from Katsina. Their attitude and behaviour resembles that of the child traffickers/child Labour “ He added.

He however revealed that both the traffickers and their suspected victims were handed over to NAPTIP Zonal Office Kano for further investigation.
