Katsina APC senatorial candidate reportedly escaped mob attack by angry youth

Reports reaching us at Katsina Post has it that the Katsina State central senatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Eng. Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya has narrowly escaped mob attack by angry youths in Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina.

The news as being broken by an online media publishing in Hausa -Taskar Labarai- stated that the incidence happened on Saturday when the Senatorial candidate visited the Local Government in continuation of his campaign.

According to our source, trouble began when the angry youths sighted the campaign entourage of the Senator entering the town and heading to the palace of the district head of Kaita.

The youths who appeared angry then started shouting unprintable words against the candidate and Katsina government while some even attacked the campaign vehicles of the Senatorial candidate.

However, one of the members of the campaign entourage of the candidate who spoke with our reported stated that the youths were particularly angry with INEC officials in respect of ad-hoc staff recruitment for the coming general elections.

According to him: “It is true that angry youths attacked our campaign vehicles but it was because of INEC ad-hoc staff recruitment in the LGA because they perceived it as unjustly conducted and had nothing to do with our campaign.

‘They thought our candidate can intervene or at least prevail on INEC or government to intervene.”
