The Nigerian Ports Authority headed by itsManaging Director, NPA, Hajiya Hadiza Usman had on Sunday, empowered numbering 1,000 indigenes from the nook and crannies of Katsina State with start-up capital and pieces of equipment to begin small-scale businesses.
According to Hadiza Bala Usman, the empowerment scheme will cover Katsina, Daura and Funtua zones where beneficiaries will be drawn from each zone.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abba Ali, who spoke on the occasion, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of whatever they were given.
The Managing Director, NPA, Hajiya Hadiza Usman, who was represented on the occasion by Mallam Musa Abubakar, said the empowerment was part of moves to augment the efforts being made by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to create jobs for Nigerians.
In his remarks, the state chairman of APC Shitu Shitu commended the donor for the gesture noting that this effort is portraying her as a true daughter of the state and a key APC party member.
