Police in Katsina State police has received three more Armoured Personnel Carriers, more counter-terrorism officers, Punch reports.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Wakili, revealed these at a press conference in Katsina on Friday.
He said, “Politicians are all over the state campaigning for the forthcoming general elections without any security threat.
“Katsina is safe for the elections. In all the 34 local government areas of the state, including the eight, which share borders with the Rugu Forest, residents carry out their commercial activities; people travel around while our officers are in firm control of the situation.
“We have been giving armed robbers, kidnappers and bandits tough battles.
“I will appeal to people not to relent in giving police and other security agencies information about the activities of criminals in their midst as this goes a long way in curtailing their activities. We have been arresting the criminals just as security agencies in the Operation Sharan Daji have been arresting criminals too.”
