Kidnappers threaten to kill 20 victims in Safana if N20m payment isn’t made by tomorrow
The suspected kidnappers of 20 people in Safana Local Government has threatened to kill all the captives if their relatives failed to meet up with the N20 million ransom by tomorrow.
Katsina post reported that on 19th December 2018 20 people were abducted by suspected Fulani bandits at Illela village of Safana Local Government area on their way back from a wedding ceremony in Kankara town.
In an audio recording obtained by Katsina Post, the kidnappers issued four days deadline to meet up with the payment or risk killing the captives.
In the audio, one of the kidnappers was heared saying: “We can’t accept anything less than N20 million, any amount contrary to that will risk the lives of your relatives “.
Katsina post learned that the deadline will end tomorrow.
A Family member, to one of the victims who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed to our correspondent that at today the contribution raised is not up to N1 million against N20 million demanded.
He said, “Initially, the kidnappers requested a ransom amount of 100 million naira, it is negotiated and reduced to 50million and later to 30million, that is 1.5million per head.”
“All efforts were made to get that amount but were unsuccessful, last 3 days, the kidnappers called again and told the village elders that, they have reduced the amount to 1million per head, but they can’t accept payments per individual captive, it has to be paid in full that is 20 million.” He added
“The kidnappers warned and gives a dateline of 4days, else all the captives will be killed.”
Illela town is a village comprising a vast number of peasant farmers under Safana LG of Katsina state and is located at the fringes of Rugu fores.
