Just In: Gov Masari signed a bill for the establishment of a brand new agency
The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has on Thursday, being the 27th of December signed into law the bill for the establishment of Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA).
The agency is shouldered with the responsibility of promoting, regulating, supervising and ensuring the effective administration of the healthcare scheme.
Amongst others the objectives of the scheme are to protect families from the financial hardship of huge medical bills, limit inflationary rise in the cost of healthcare services; ensure equitable distribution of healthcare costs across different income groups and maintenance of high standard of healthcare delivery services in the state.
It could be recalled that Katsina State former Speaker house of assembly, Rt Honourable speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Yahya Kusada, leads the Honourable members and other stakeholders for the draft of a Bill to domesticate the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the form of the Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA) earlier this year.
It could also be recalled that the Katsina state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari said that the state government in collaboration with the state house of assembly, the state chapter of Nigeria labour Congress NLC, Medical and Health Workers Union are working closely to come up with a bill for an Agency to replicate National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the state.
The Governor also emphasized the need for the management of National Health Insurance Scheme-NHIS to carry out more advocacy for people in the state to understand the programme properly.
Alhaji Aminu Masari was speaking when he received the Executive secretary of the scheme, Professor Usman Yusuf who paid him a courtesy call at government house, Katsina.
