A statement from the coordinator, Yusuf Hassan Wada said the first phase of the sensitisation and lecture series covers 20 schools within the state and targets young students in both gender.

The Drug free campaign is aimed at tackling the alarming rate of drug abuse especially among young leaders (students). These are the people whom the future of our dear country depends largely on to create a better, younger generation.

Co-founder of the Foundation, Aliyu Ammani led the awareness with support from officials of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and volunteers.

Wada in the statement at one of the awareness lectures said, “Poor advocacy has left us with no doubt that Nigeria is witnessing a huge increase in the misuse of drugs across all its regions and especially among its youth population.

“All individuals should be encouraged to play certain roles towards reducing the menace of drug abuse in our society,” he noted.

He said the event creates a platform for stakeholders to devise ways of tackling the menace headlong. “This event gives us the opportunities to reflect on what we can do, making a pledge and taking action,” Wada added.
