NIMC, Katsina govt establish 18 registration centres

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Katsina state in collaboration with the state government has established 18 registration centres across the state.

Alhaji Abdullahi Babangida Ahmed, the State NIMC Coordinator, disclosed this in a chat with Saturday Independent in Katsina on Friday.

Ahmed said the effort is in an attempt to ensure that, eligible persons get registered before the close in January, 2019 deadline of its use for usual business in the country.

According to him, the commission’s designated have been established in the old seven council areas and eleven selected council’s to ensure accessibility by all and avoid rush.

“All persons yet to register and acquire their national identification card can avail themselves the opportunity to receive it before the expiration date,” he said.

He explained that, the designated centres were established to avert the rush that may occur, as the cards would from next year become a prerequisite for businesses in the country.

Ahmed who commended the state government for its magnanimity to establishing the centres, however urged government to assist the office with logistics to enable it efficiently conduct the exercise.
