The Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Bello Masari has ordered the removal of the representative of village head of Illela village in Safana local government area of the state.

He gave the order when he visited the affected victims to sympathize with them over the attacks by the kidnappers, armed bandits and cattle rustlers.

Governor Masari ordered the removal of the representative also known as Wakili following complaints by people of the area of his connivance with cattle rustlers who deprived them of their animals.

Governor Masari who assured that government would step up efforts to curb armed banditry, kidnapping and other vices to ensure lives and properties are secured in the state, however called for the relocation of the persons back to their various homes.

It would be recalled that last week Vanguard reports that over 1,000 villagers in Dumburawa village of Batsari local government area of the state flee their homes over fear of reprisal attack by armed bandits.

Affected areas visited by the Governor include Jibia, Batsari, Danmusa and Safana local government areas.

  1. The true of the matter is that, the Wakili has no hand or what soever in connivance with the rustlers activities, but he wanted to protect himself and his family from the attackers by not disclosing their identity to Police personnel, because even if the bandits were reported to the police and arrested, they (rustlers) will pay amount of money to the police for their release, and the person who reported them will pay for his action.

Due to that the LGA DPO is not happy with that development, he reported him to the Govt and LGA Security Council, this is what really happened, in fact the villagers are not even happy with his removal.

    2. The Governor and the Government should revisit the amnesty did to the rustlers, because there is no fairness. The bandits were allowed with their guns and are still perpetrating crimes (robbery, kidnapping, rustling, assassinations and mass murder, illegal collection of pines/charges to masses, and many more).

The Vigilante groups protecting the villagers were banned by the SSG headed committee on amnesty.

    3. About the Councillors kidnapping: definitely if the SSG will talk to the Gang Leaders of the Rustlers they will release the Councillors. This is because, some reports shows that they (Gang Leaders) frequently visited him in his office or guest house, and he always welcomed them. One among the Gang Leaders named Rabe from Zamfara was even bailed from Police detention in Abuja by the SSG and now he (Rabe Gang Leader) he is staying in Katsina town in a house located at Ramin Kura Qtrs rented to him by the SSG.

It is also confirm that, the Gang Leaders and some bandits are on Govt payroll each month, ranging from N20k, N50k to N100k or more.

So I see no reason why they will not listen to the their leader, the SSG Katsina Govt for the Councillors relesed.

This is the facts about this saga
