A truck carrying sand yesterday killed five persons at Kofar Sauri area in Katsina metropolis after an apparent brake failure, Daily trust reports.
Witnesses said the vehicle had a brake failure as it approached a bridge along the main entrance before crashing into some commuters.
The deceased were buried at about 5 pm yesterday after a funeral prayer.
In a related development, an armed robbery suspect, Jamilu Sani, has landed in the Katsina Prison custody following his arrest by his victim, Abdulrauf Musa.
The 23-year-old suspect, who is a resident of Unguwar Tagwa village in the Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, had invaded Musa’s house at Kaura Pawa village in the same local government, with a locally-made pistol.
Police said Sani allegedly invaded the house at night and directed his victim along with his family to surrender their money and other valuables.
Musa was reported to have raised the alarm while summoning the courage to attack Sani, who reportedly took to his heels.
Sani was consequently pursued and overpowered and handed over to the police. The locally-made pistol was also recovered from him.
