Katsina gov’t complete demarcation of 905 KM of cattle routes

Katsina State Government has completed the demarcation of 905 kilometers of cattle routes to promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herdsmen, an official said on Monday

Abdulaziz Lawal, Chairman of the state committee on settlement of disputes between farmers and herdsmen, made the disclosure in Sandamu at a sensitisation workshop.

The workshop was organised by the state chapter of Miyetti Allah Kautal-Hore to promote peaceful coexistence between pastoralists and farmers.

He disclosed that the committee had within two years, recovered over 30,000 cattle from rustlers and handed them over to their rightful owners.

It could be recalled that the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari approved the commencement of phase I of the redemarcation and beaconing of stock routes across the state.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Chairman of the State standing committee on cooperation between farmers and herdsmen in the State, Alhaji Abdulaziz Lawal K/Sauri and sent to katsinapsot.com .

Alhaji Abdulaziz Lawal also stated that the redemarcation and beaconing of the stock routes will be carried out in Ingawa, Jibiya, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kafur, Faskari, Zango and Baure Local governments of the states.
