Nigeria partners Niger for the construction of Daura rail-line
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, says the Federal Government is partnering with the government of the republic of Niger for the construction of standard gauge rail-line from Kano in Nigeria to Maradi, Niger Republic.
The rail-line which when completed is believed that it will attract and facilitate businesses to Nigerian Ports will pass from Kano through Dutse, Daura and Jibia in Katsina and terminate in Maradi.
Mr Amaechi said this at the opening of the maiden edition of the International Association of Port and Harbours, IAPH, Africa Regional Conference, organised by the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, on Monday in Abuja.
“The rail line would start from Kano and pass through Dutse, Kazaure, Daura, Kastina, Jibia and terminate at Maradi in Niger”, he said.
It could be recalled that the federal government has also awarded a contract for the establishment and construction of Transportation University in Daura Local government of Katsina State.
