The Honourable Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, has yesterday, Thursday in Katsina inaugurated the country’s first ever operational border patrol base established by the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The base, which was sited at Mazanya community in Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina State bordering Niger Republic, is part of measures by the NIS to effectively police the country’s expansive borders.
Honourable Dambazau who was represented by Mr Mohammed Umar, the Permanent Secretary in his ministry, stated that the facility would contrite to the nation’s fight against irregular migration and cross-border criminality.
Personalities who grace the ocassion are Comotroller general of immigration Service, Deputy comptroller general incharge of border Management, Assistant Comptrollers General, comptrollers from Jigawa, sokoto, Zamfara, Kaduna, Immigration training school Kano, representatives of Exec. Gov, Emir of Katsina, Emir of Daura.
