Personality of the week: Meet the man called Naufal – By Saratu Abubakar

Naufal is an open-minded young man. From my first conversation with him, I spotted that he was extremely intelligent and very passionate about Nigeria.

“The burning desire to see Nigeria and Africa reach its full potential is what keeps me up at night and the first thing that pops on my mind as soon as I open my eyes every morning, he said.

Naufal Ahmad, 27, is a youth advocate, serial entrepreneur and business development expert. He is from Katsina state, in the Northern part of Nigeria. Just like his name, which means a generous leader, Naufal is a youth leader.

Naufal has championed different National movement in the Northern part of Nigeria. Including but not limited to Occupy Nigeria Movement and Not Too Young To Run campaign.

His advocation is built on 3-point agendas, he calls them the 3-E’s. They are, education, employment and economic empowerment. As a graduate of Geography from Umaru Musa Yaradua University, he understands the importance of safeguarding the environment. On education, Ahmad pushes for education for all.

“Education is extremely important for the progress of any nation. I believe a country can’t reach its peak, without investing in the education of their citizens,” said Naufal.

Naufal is a co-founder of Kirakira hub in Katsina state. The hub is a social venture that trains youth and women on how to start a business in the information, communication and technology sector.

“The hub is a venture that other young leaders and I establish to help in the building of katsina state,” he said.

Naufal describes himself as an “open book.” He loves learning and is open to exchanging ideas and learning new things with anyone, as long as they are valid. He is a reader, the realization that his dreams can only be achieved by actively being engaged in civic space pushes him to be better.

“As a geography graduate that wants to be in the public space, I realized that I had little knowledge of what it takes to be a social activist, therefore, I began a quest for knowledge,” he said.

His biggest goal is to get to a position where he can make and implement meaningful policies that will better the lives of people.

Ahmad is very family-oriented. He owes his biggest gratitude to his family, for moulding him into the man he has become. He was born into the family of community leaders, hence, having the innate urge to always take charge of situations.

“My family is my sanctuary, I was taught how to love people regardless of our differences. Most importantly I taught was the importance of always reaching out to help people, when you have the capacity to,” he added.
