The Poor State of KTSTA: Who will wake the sleeping Katsina state APC government up? – By Hamza Yunusa Jibia

Transportation is a movement from one place to another and is important because it enables trade between people which is vital and key component for the economic development of any state.

Public transport benefits individuals, communities, and the local economy; the poor and the rich. Unfortunately, this has been neglected by the APC led administration of Katsina state.

Katsina State Transport Authority (KTSTA) has experienced total decayed since the assumption of APC led government in the state.

Unlike in the past administration of PDP; where virtually every month, a new bus was procured from the revenue of KTSTA as well as from the annual budgetary intervention from the state government. This practice saw to the purchase of between 17-22 buses yearly. Katsina indigenes generally appreciated the good condition of KTSTA at that time. Because it was functioning and being managed very well, they reached their destination on a planned time, safely and affordably.

When will Katsina State All Promised Cancelled (APC) led government attend to public transport needs in the state?

Due to incompetence, the government is planning to hand over KTSTA to private investors. I kept thinking whether we need investors for KSTA to function? And if yes when are they coming? Again, I ask myself, Did our neighboring states; Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto invited investors for Kano Line, KSTA and Sokoto line to function effectively more than the now moribund KTSTA?

It’s an eyesore that KSTA has became the personal property of two people, Governor and the GM (who has now ran it aground) as indicated in the poster below. There was no such eye service in the just past PDP regime.

It become apparent that the Katsina State indigenes no longer have that trust and confidence in KTSTA like before – their safety is no longer guaranteed. KTSTA buses have broken down due to lack of maintenance and the number in the fleet kept depreciating daily.

Unconfirmed source told me that KTSTA buses have not been allowed to load passenger to Katsina in some states due to their poor state.

The APC government as usual preaches and will continue preaching no money, but no money can’t be found in their way of life. The Masari led administration should as a matter of urgency attend to KTSTA as citizen’s life are at stake.

Securing lives of Katsina Indigenes as well as their welfare is the cardinal principle for voting you to live in “Gidan Alu’mma”. Not to enjoy while the poor Katsinawa continues to suffer in agony.
