Many residents of the popular Barhim Housing estate in Katsina have kicked against the renaming their streets currently ongoing.

Since the emergence of the current government of Katsina state under leadership of Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, various government properties and projects had been renamed.

Some of those projects include Fatima Shema estate, State orthopedic hospital, central market, State Secretariat, Stadium, Trade fair, Government College Katsina and Ibrahim Shehu Shema institute of technology, among others.

It was of recent, the Barhim estate in the state was renamed to Sir Usman Nagogo Housing estate.

Also, couple of weeks back, government decided to rename the street of the estate to bear traditional tittles.

Along the line, some of the residents of the estate expressed their dissatisfaction over ongoing remaining of their streets by cancelling the newly imposeda names to their streets.

It could be recalled that streets in Sir Usman Nagogo estate (Barhim estate) were named after fruits and trees in the first place before the ongoing renaming.
