Katsina State Teachers are enjoying a very vital workshop organized by the Public Affairs section of the US Embassy Abuja.
The two day workshop tagged “PROTEAN” is aimed at promoting teacher excellence achievement in Nigeria.
The workshop will discuss curriculum development, lesson planning, effective technology use and student centred teaching methodology.
Earlier the Honourable Commissioner for Education Ass. Prof. Badamasi Lawal represented by the Director Schools Hajiya Halima Lawal Othman while declaring the workshop opened appreciated the support of the US Embassy in complementing the Masari led administration in its efforts to reposition Education in the State and described it as timely owing to the fact that the Governor has chosen Education to be his number priority.
The Commissioner urged the benefiting teacher to pay rapt attention for them to achieve the objective of the workshop.
She said Katsina State was privileged to enjoy a lot of US sponsored programme like the Youth Exchange and Study “YES” program, YALI, 4H to mention but a few. This gives the state prominence as far as the US Embassy programs in the State are concerned.
The leader of the US Embassy delegation/ Resource Persons Mrs. Ugonma Okorie Akanu said the US Embassy sponsored them to participate in a six week rigorous training workshop in the US under the ProTEAN program. The Embassy then decided to conduct a step down workshop using the Alumni of the program to go round to six Northern States for the benefit of Teachers in those States and improve teaching and learning process.
